Meet the owners...

Picture
_Kelly moved to Grand Forks in 2003. Her biggest passion in life is animals, especially dogs. She got her first dog when she was three years old and was hooked! Her husband Wayne has lived in Grand Forks since 1996. Both grew up in a farm/ranch environment, Kelly in Wibaux, Montana, and Wayne in Rugby, North Dakota, and are true animal lovers at heart. Since moving to Grand Forks, we have had the opportunity to help with rescue, particularly IMPS, and get involved at the Grand Forks Kennel Club.

Maya

Picture
_Maya is a 16-year-old red Miniature Pinscher who you'll often see hanging around Kelly's neck, literally. She loves her sling and as long as she's with mom, she is happy. At 16 years, she is still holding strong although she is blind due to cataracts.

Keira

Picture
_Keira is a 14-year-old red Miniature Pinscher and Maya's half sister. She is a very mellow girl and likes to play personal shopper following customers around. She is never very far from her sister Maya who uses her for body heat.  Keira is blind in one eye and unfortunately, she's also extremely hard of hearing.

Odin

Picture
_Odin is a 12-year-old chocolate Miniature Pinscher that we adopted through IMPS (Internet Miniature Pinscher Service). Although most of his years to this point haven't been very happy, we are trying our best to spoil him rotten now. He loves to be loved and hasn't met a person he doesn't like. And he LOVES to play with kids when they come in the store.  He is our vendor dog and has taken on the store mascot role a bit as he is so social. He is also working towards becoming a therapy dog.

Ruger

Picture
Ruger is our 5-year-old Rottweiler who "helps" us at the store occasionally.  He is secure in his corner so he doesn't frighten people, but he's been a pretty good boy overall.  Ruger loves daycare at Wag N Train and agility at the Grand Forks Kennel Club and being with his humans.  He is a very smart boy and has earned his rally novice title with hopes to go on and do more when his mom finds more spare time.  He also enjoys the foster Min Pins - the wilder, the better.

Meet our groomer...

Picture

My name is Stephanie Amiot and I am the groomer for Treat Play Love.  I grew up in Thief River Falls, MN.  Since I was 10 years old, I have done in-home grooms on my family and friends' dogs.  It was always a hobby of mine.  A few years and a couple of jobs later I found myself working for Carlene King at Wag-N-Train.  Before she retired and moved to California, Carlene taught me all of the skills and knowledge required for grooming.  After Carlene sold the business, I continued to groom for Wag-N-Train, but thought it was time for a change.  I came to Treat Play Love to add grooming to their store and bring along a new door greeter, my pooch Nea.  Even if you're not looking for grooming you should stop in because this little store has a LOT to offer!  My goal for grooming is to have the end results exceed your expectations.  I listen to what YOU want and I promise to return your pet to you safe, happy, and looking and smelling great!

Nea

Picture
My name is Nea and I am a pit bull, more specifically an American Staffordshire Terrier.  I remember sitting with my brothers and sisters in the mall, each of us getting picked up one by one.  I went home with a couple who were pregnant, but it wasn't long before they dropped me off at a kennel to be trained and turned into a "well behaved" dog - whatever that means! That's where I met my mom.  For three months I was in doggy boot camp and getting to know everyone.  One day, out of the blue, the same man from the mall brought me back to his house.  The next time I saw everyone at the kennel it was about two weeks later.  I was scared for them to make any sudden movements and just wanted to be with them.  I was locked in a kennel all day, every day, and would be punished if I made a sound.  Finally, after six months of living in a kennel, my mom brought me home where I met my dad, two brothers (Lynks, the cat, and Aero, the ferret) and some extended family.  After just a week I started to not be afraid of their hands and I started barking and making other dog sounds.  The first time I barked I actually scared myself!  Now I am a happy and busy pup and I love my new and furever family.

Before picking up a puppy, think about the other dogs that need a home.  I was lucky and never ended up at a humane society, but I know one of my sisters did.  Please think about adoption first, we are great dogs who just need a second chance!

WATCH FOR A NEW IMPS FOSTER DOG COMING SOON!

Mingus, foster cat through Circle of Friends

Picture

Mingus is between 1-2 years old.
He is a neutered male and gets along well with cats and dogs. He is very playful and was adopted once and returned because of play biting, but we've really not seen much of that at the store.
Adoption fee: $80

Glacier, foster cat through Circle of Friends

Picture

Glacier is between 2-4 years old.
He is a neutered male and gets along well with cats although he truly does not understand normal cat play behavior.  It looks like he has been recently declawed.
Adoption fee: $80
